Coach Bolick

I am passionate about Physical Education and absolutely LOVE what I do every day. I hope to make a huge impact on every student that walks into my gym. I feel very blessed to work in this county but especially here at Blowing Rock.

My goals for my class are:

1. Increase their knowledge of physical activities, sport, and health

2. Encourage them to be active and try new things

3. Increase their personal confidence

4. Understand and appreciate others

5. Have a BLAST!

The mission of the Blowing Rock School Physical Education Program is to educate all students to their highest level of academic and wellness potential and to teach them the skills and knowledge necessary to lead a physically active lifestyle.

Physical Education is an integral part of the total educational process.  It gives students the opportunity to develop physically, mentally and socially through the use of physical activity. Physical Education helps students achieve the skills, physical fitness, knowledge, social qualities and attitudes that will allow them to develop an optimal quality of life and well-being.

The health and physical education grade will be determined by computing the grades that a student has earned in the four components that represent our program:

1.      Participation > 50%

2.      Preparation > 25%

3.      Social Interaction > 25%

Preparedness:  Students are expected to be dressed in appropriate athletic clothing and sneakers.  Students will not be allowed to participate if they are wearing inappropriate footwear (sandals, flip flops, boots, etc).  Not wearing appropriate footwear will result in a reduction in the student's P.E. grade.

Participation:  Every student is expected to be fully engaged in the class activity from the beginning to the end of each class. Giving 100% of every class is expected. The quality of participation requires the student to be active and positive in nature and in no way detract from the involvement, well-being and enjoyment of others.

**If a student needs to sit out of P.E. due to injury or illness...parents or guardians need to send a signed note stating why the student must sit out for that day.**
