Teacher of the Year

Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Jennifer Lacy

Jennifer Lacy is our 2022-2023

Parkway Teacher of the Year!

We are pleased to announce that Mrs. Jennifer Lacy is our 2022-23 Parkway School Teacher of the Year! Her favorite "fun fact" to share with her students each year is that she teaches fourth grade students in the same classroom where she was in fourth grade in 1978-79. Although the room and the school look a bit different now, she is quite nostalgic about the space!

Mrs. Lacy has lived in Watauga County since her family moved from Naples, FL when she was four years old. She attended Blowing Rock School for Kindergarten, Hardin Park School for 1st and 2nd grade, and Parkway for grades 3-8. She graduated from WHS in 1987, and she earned her teaching degree from Appalachian State University in 1993. Her first position with Watauga County Schools started in September of 1995 when she became a teaching assistant and bus driver at Blowing Rock School. In early November 1997, she followed in the footsteps of her third grade teacher, Mrs. Graham, when she retired from Parkway. She finished out the year she began with her third grade students. After getting married in the summer of 1998, she started teaching fourth grade, and she's been there ever since. This is her 28th year of teaching.

In her "spare" time, you might find her singing, reading, sewing, gardening, playing games, and doing puzzles of all sorts. You might catch her adding a frog to her collection, too!
