My favorite "fun fact" to share with my students each year is that I teach fourth grade students in the same classroom where I was in fourth grade in 1978-79. Although the room and the school look a bit different now, I am quite nostalgic about the space!
I have lived in Watauga County since my family moved from Naples, FL when I was four years old. I attended Blowing Rock School for Kindergarten, Hardin Park School for 1st and 2nd grade, and Parkway for grades 3-8. I graduated from WHS in 1987, and I earned my teaching degree from Appalachian State University. My first position with Watauga County Schools was a teaching assistant and bus driver at Blowing Rock School. In November 1997, I followed in the footsteps of my third grade teacher, Mrs. Graham, when she retired from Parkway. I finished out the year she began with her third grade students. After getting married in the summer of 1998, I started teaching fourth grade, and I've been there ever since. I'm so fortunate!
As you can see in the pictures of my family, I have two children. We enjoy spending time together! During the summer of 2013, we visited the Outer Banks for the first time. I was super excited to climb the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, visit the grounds of Currituck and Bodie Island lighthouses, and climb the giant dune to the Wright Brothers memorial. "Touching" and experiencing history is awesome!
In my "spare" time, you might find me singing, reading, sewing, gardening, playing games, and doing puzzles of all sorts. You might catch me adding a frog to my collection, too!
