Mrs. Katie Hancock
Hey y'all! My name is Katie Hancock, and I'll be teaching 7th grade math and science at Parkway this year. This is my 12th year teaching, and my first year at Parkway School.
Prior to working at Parkway, I taught in Harnett County (near Raleigh) for 8 years. During my time there, I taught 6th grade advanced math, 7th grade math, 7th grade science, and Pre-Math I. I also taught 5th grade in Charleston, SC for 3 years.
I met my husband, Nolan, during our time at Appalachian State. He is a lawyer, and currently serves as an Assistant District Attorney in Caldwell County. We have one daughter, Emerson, who is in kindergarten here at Parkway. I grew up as an "army brat", with my dad serving 30 years in the U.S. Army. While it was hard at times, I loved the fact that I got to experience so many different cultures both in the United States, and around the world. I come by my love of teaching honestly, as my mom is currently finishing up her final year teaching 3rd grade on Fort Bragg in Fayetteville, NC.
My hobbies are traveling + experiencing new cultures, laughing, crafting, interior design, and of course, spending time with my friends and family.
I look forward to working with you this year to help our students navigate both their personal and academic growth.
