Ms. Johnson
Hello! I am Ms. Johnson and this is my 5th year of teaching here at Mabel.
I grew up here in Watauga County and attended Hardin Park Elementary and Watauga High School. I loved being in the mountains so much that I decided to attend Appalachian State University in the Fall of 2013. In the fall of 2015, I took the semester off from school to live in Bolivia for 3 months. I worked as a volunteer with a local health organization and had the opportunity to spend time with children and families of El Alto and La Paz. Both Bolivia and its people have a huge piece of my heart, and I would love to go back to visit someday! After returning to school, I was lucky enough to receive my student teaching placement here at Mabel Elementary, in Mrs. Harkey’s kindergarten. I instantly fell in love with this school and its community. I then graduated from ASU in December, 2017, with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a concentration in Spanish.
Mabel is such an amazing place to be! I love the staff I work with and the students I get to teach. First grade is my favorite, and I love getting to know my new kids each year!
A few of my favorite things are: coaching Girls on the Run, backpacking, being outside, adventuring with my twin brother, spending time with my friends and family, traveling, reading, writing, singing and playing guitar.
