Dear Parkway Community,
It is true that Parkway is one of the best places to learn and work in North Carolina. It is evident through the dedication of our faculty, unyielding parent support and engaged students who believe their focus on education is a key to their future successes. This unique combination opens the doors for forward thinking, opportunities to grow and challenge ourselves as a staff and dig deep into what it means to help students reach their full potential. A great example of this is our Compassionate School Initiative and our Multi-Tiered System of Support framework which ensures all student needs are being met.
A native of Virginia, I moved to North Carolina to attend school and shortly after arriving, I knew I would call North Carolina my permanent home. I met my husband of sixteen years in Wilmington and we have lived on the coast with our cat Moose until deciding to return to the mountains to live and work. I earned my Associate’s Degree from Cape Fear Community College, my Bachelor's Degree in middle grades education from UNCW, my Master's degree in Language and Literacy from UNCW, and my gifted education license from UNCW. Several years after completing my Master's degree, I continued my education and earned my NC Administration License from Gardner-Webb University.
In New Hanover County, I taught for six years as a 7th grade Language Arts teacher and the subsequent six years, I led the school-wide gifted and talented program.
It is with great pride that I am the Assistant Principal at Parkway School. I look forward to a fantastic year.
