Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Susan Miller Hemric
I am a graduate of Appalachian State University. I have experience teaching first, fifth, and sixth grades. I look forward to teaching your child Ancient Civilizations in sixth grade Social Studies! Assignments are listed on the board and some are found in "Canvas." Your child may access "Canvas" by logging into NC EdCloud. Homework will not be collected daily. Students should plan to work daily on projects or study for tests (15-20 minutes). Students will have classtime to start work and may need to complete it at home.
Sufficent class time and time to work at home is given. Students are not assigned a major project the night before it is due. A skill sheet may be assigned the night before it is due. Normally students have at least two nights before an assignment is due. The best way to check on this is to check grades in PowerSchool.
Grades are updated approximately every two weeks. Pretests will be adjusted if students effort is made throughout the unit. Skills such as memorization and conceptual thinking will be taught using Ancient Civilizations.
