  • SAFESITTER Class

     

    • Safe Sitter® is designed to prepare students in grades 6-8 to be safe when they’re home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting.
    • The Instructor-led class is filled with fun games and role-playing exercises.
    • Date: June 7, 2023
    • Time: 9 AM - 2:30 PM
    • Location: Watauga County Schools County Office
    • Registration is due by May 15.

    All Permission Forms will need to be completed and turned in by the day of the Class.

  • Literacy Fundamentals for rising 1st graders

     

    • This is a FREE literacy enrichment program in the Science of Reading.
    • It's designed for childen who will be entering first grade in August 2023.
    • Children will receive whole group and small group insturction focused on the foundational literacy skills needed to boost their reading success in first grade!

  • Summer Reading Clinic

     

    • The Anderson Reading Clinic at Appalachian State University will offer a face-to-face literacy clinic for school-aged children this summer.
    • The dates are June 5th - June 29th, 2023.
    • Supervised tutoring will occur on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at an assigned time in the late afternoon/early evening.
    • There is no cost for this clinic; however, parents/guardians must commit to their child's attendance at each and every assigned tutoring session.
    • This clinic is designed for children for whom reading, spelling, and writing is not yet easy.
