Introduction to Board Policies
The Board policies of the Watauga County Schools establish the guidelines for leadership and operation of the school system. The policies are organized on this website using the headings shown below. Click on one of the headings at left for links to the policies in that area.
Annual Notices
At the beginning of each school year, districts are required to provide parents and students with certain annual notices. You might each notice at the link above.
Board Operations
Policies in this section address how the Board of Education conducts business, including the duties and authority of the Board, Board meeting procedures, and Board officers and committees.
Community Relations
Policies in this section address the use of school facilities, distribution of non-school information in schools, prohibited items on school grounds, school visitors and volunteers, sex offenders, research involving students, fund-raising, public records, student/parent grievances and additional topics.
Finance
Policies in this section address the requirements for spending and accounting for school system funds, including purchasing procedures.
Instructional Content and Standards
