About our Teacher of the Year Mrs. Kiaya Brooks
I was born in Fayetteville, NC and have lived in North Carolina since I was 5 years old. I left NC when I got married to live in Germany and Fort Benning, Georgia since my husband, Jordan, served in the Army. In 2016, I returned to North Carolina excited to begin my teaching career in my home state! I taught 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade over seven school years at West End Elementary then came to teach at Valle Crucis School in 2022. I have been lucky enough to teach 1st and 3rd graders here at Valle Crucis School over the last two school years. My husband, Jordan, and I have been married for almost 15 years and we love our two amazing kids, Aurora and Collin. Aurora is a 7th grader and Collin is a 4th grader here at VCS and we enjoy coming to school together everyday. We are permanent residents in the High Country with our two pups, Willie and Ziggy, one guinea pig, Josie, one leopard gecko, Zym, and soon baby chicks! I love teaching students, working with the staff and coaching the girls of Heart & Sole at VCS. But most of all, I love to spend time with my family, enjoying our home and all the beauty of our mountains! -

The Lion King Production Info
A production of "The Lion King , Jr" will be held on the stage at Bethel Gym at 6 pm on Thursday, March 21st and on Tuesday March 26th. Valle Crucis and Bethel PTSO have graciously financed the scripts for our joint production. Valle Crucis students will be featured in the lead roles on March 26th. Both schools will comprise the ensemble that is essential for the production during both performances. A mandatory dress rehearsal will be at Bethel on March 19th from 3-6pm. Parents will need to provide transportation to and from Bethel for the dress rehearsal and have their child participate in both productions in order for their child to be in the show. Please contact Terry Lyon with any questions concerning the production, costuming or the rehearsal schedule for the show.

TSI/AT Letter to Parents
Dear Parent/Guardian: October 2023
I hope the school year has started successfully for all of you. As a parent/guardian of a student in Valle Crucis School, I am writing this letter to let you know that Valle Crucis School has been designated as a Targeted Support & Improvement Additional Targeted Support (TSI-AT) school by the North Carolina State Board of Education. As stated in ESSA Section 1111(d)(2), North Carolina had to identify schools for targeted support and improvement. TSI-AT schools in North Carolina are those that have a subgroup that is under-performing. The intent of this opportunity is to improve educational outcomes for all students, close achievement gaps, increase equity, and improve the quality of instruction.
